Echos of the Heart is about my spiritual walk. It isn’t about religion, but about how the Word of God dwells in me. How HIS Word echos through my being, gently guiding and correcting while refining me to become the person HE desires me to be.

Counting the Omer ~

Olive Tree

The Omer is counted every evening after nightfall, from the second night of Passover till the night before Shavuot (or Pentecost) ~ you count for 50 days.

Throughout the days of counting, we work on refining our character to be ready for the marriage supper of the Lamb.

“And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.” ~
Revelation  22:17

This year I have elected to study the
Tabernacle.

During this study, I want to go through the tabernacle one step at a time, looking at the way YHVH designed it.  I want to look and each article and each piece of furniture and how they are a picture of Yeshua (Jesus) the Messiah and how that relates to each of us.

Tonight I hope to do a brief introduction in which I will also do a little explaining about different Biblical customs, Hebraic thought or perspective, and attempt to explain a little more about the Omer itself.

Today is Nissan 16, 5771 ~ Day one of the Omer

(Unlike the civil calendar in which one day becomes the next at the stroke of midnight, the transition from one day to the next in the Jewish calendar occurs somewhere between sunset and nightfall. Therefore the Jewish date will always overlap with two days in the civil calendar, and the same is true of the reverse.)

I love the following quote.  It just shows how very much God cherishes HIS children.

"Thinking about the night as the beginning of the day reminds us that everything doesn't depend on us. We go to sleep, but God is working all through the night. So we don't have to be anxious or rushed. When we wake up, we will simply join him in his work."

BA-RUCH A-TAH ADO-NAI E-LO-HE-NU ME-LECH HA-OLAM ASHER KID-E-SHA-NU BE-MITZ-VO-TAV VETZI-VA-NU AL SEFI-RAT HA-OMER.

(Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the Universe, who has sanctified us with His commandments, and commanded us concerning the counting of the Omer.)

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth.”  John (Yochanan)    1:14

The word used for dwelt in this verse is “skenoo” and it means ~
from 4636; to tent or encamp, i.e. (figuratively) to occupy (as a mansion) or (specially), to reside (as God did in the Tabernacle of old, a symbol of protection and communion):-- dwell.

“Now, therefore, ye are no more strangers and sojourners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God; and are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Yeshua‘ the Messiah himself being the chief corner stone, in whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord; in whom ye also are built together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.” ~ Ephesians 2:19 - 22

Tomorrow night we will begin to look at the Wilderness Tabernacle.

Shalom!

Today is Nissan 17, 5771 ~ Day two of the Omer

BA-RUCH A-TAH ADO-NAI E-LO-HE-NU ME-LECH HA-OLAM ASHER KID-E-SHA-NU BE-MITZ-VO-TAV VETZI-VA-NU AL SEFI-RAT HA-OMER.

(Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the Universe, who has sanctified us with His commandments, and commanded us concerning the counting of the Omer.)

“Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such a high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; a minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.  For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer.  For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law:  Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for,

See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.”

Hebrews 8:1-5

Who is being talked about here?  “We have such a high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the majesty in the heavens; ~”

Without going any farther, we know the WHO who is being spoke of here.  We know YESHUA  (Jesus) sits on the right hand of the Father.

I believe, the sum total of what these scriptures is telling us is, Yeshua (Jesus) was the pattern for the Tabernacle of Moses.

“And let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them. According to all that I show thee, after the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the furnishings thereof, even so shall ye make it.”  Exodus 25:8-9

What I am trying to say, Yeshua was the pattern for the earthly tabernacle and the Tabernacle was the picture (by God’s design) of the coming Messiah.  This is why Adonai (the Father)’s instructions had to be followed to the “letter”.

Here is a replica of the Wilderness Tabernacle.

Today is Nissan 18, 5771 ~ Day three of the Omer

BA-RUCH A-TAH ADO-NAI E-LO-HE-NU ME-LECH HA-OLAM ASHER KID-E-SHA-NU BE-MITZ-VO-TAV VETZI-VA-NU AL SEFI-RAT HA-OMER.

(Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the Universe, who has sanctified us with His commandments, and commanded us concerning the counting of the Omer.)

After leaving Egypt on the first day of Passover, we counted 49 days in eager suspense. Then, on the 50th day, we assembled in that same spot where GOD first spoke with Moses, and we received the Torah (and The Ten Commandments or the Law).  Yes, The Law was given on Shavuot (or the Festival of Weeks), which we also refer to as Pentecost, because it is also the day the Holy Spirit was given.  God loves cycles and patterns.  He uses them repeatedly to teach HIS children!

Why 49 days? Seven weeks of Seven is considered perfection, and completion by perfection and completion. The Kabbalah describes 49 facets that make up the human character, and we will explore these facets as we go on day by day.
Examining these facets through prayer and meditation brings us closer to our
Heavenly Father.

For me, it helps to settle on a topic and then ask the Holy Spirit to direct my study.  This year, if you have been reading, you know I picked the Tabernacle.  As we count, I think the reason for selecting the Tabernacle will become evident.

But, I will warn you, I often appear to be “chasing rabbits” because when studying I will find another nugget of knowledge that makes me want to find out more about that particular “facet”.

Here is an interesting study, I discovered while in the middle of another study.  And let me tell you, when I discovered this, I was so excited, I totally forgot about the original study!
Did you know you can find the whole of the gospel written in the names of Jacob's twelve sons? While this doesn't surprise me....I am amazed. God does everything in such utter completeness.

Take a look.

The twelve Patriarchs, the typical significance of their names:
Reuben
, Jacob’s first-born, means, See, a Son! —"Behold the lamb of God." “And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” Matt. 3:17

Simeon whose name signifies Hearing - "Hear, and your soul shall live." (“Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.” Isaiah 55:3)

Levi, and his name means Joined – “ Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.” 1 Col. 1:10

Judah, which means Praise – “By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.” Hebrews 13:15

Dan means Judgment ~ “Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:” 2 Th 1:5

Naphtali means Wrestling ~ “I have fought (wrestled) a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:” 2 Tim 4:7

Gad which means a Troop or Company – “Now when the congregation (company) was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.” Acts 13:43

Asher means Happy –“ Behold, we count them happy which endure.”James 5:11

Issachar means Hire - and speaks of service (“How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” Hebrews 9:14)

Zebulon which signifies Dwelling - we are to "occupy" till Christ comes (“And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.” Luke 19:13)

Joseph which means Adding – (reward) “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrew 11:6 ~ “That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.” Matt. 6:18

Benjamin, the last of Jacob’s sons, means Son of my right hand – So we end, where we began with Yeshua (“Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.” ~ 1 Peter 3:22)

“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.” Rev. 22:13

(Isn't that something?!! I am in awe.)

What I really had planned to dive into (rather than the names of Jacob (Israel)'s sons, is the number 22.

There are 22 letters in the Hebrew alphabet.

There are 22 amino acids, which are needful to sustain life.

Male and female have 22 pair of chromosomes that are identical.  Only the chromosomes that determined the sex of an individual is different.

I believe that it is all by God's design and HE is really into the details, more than we can imagine!

Zola Levitt wrote a book about the Biblical Feasts.  In it, he explained how each infant keeps the Biblical Feasts while still in the womb.  The development of the infant follows the same pattern as the feasts days.

It is really an amazing read!

As I said, Yeshua  (Jesus) was the pattern for the earthly tabernacle and therefore, the Tabernacle was a picture of the coming Messiah.

“But HE spake of the temple of his body.”  John 2:21

Since our bodies are the Temple of the Holy Ghost, should we some how fit into this pattern?

“What?  Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?    For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's”  1Co 6:19 – 20

“That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgment of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;  In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”  Col. 2:2-3
